This mod allows you to add and play new Idle Animations without having to deal with nasty work-arounds, like replacing existing animations and creating temporary pseudo-races. It does this by creating new animation slots in the Skyrim Behavior files.

Update 2012-05-14: New Version V2.0
This is the first version which a truly seperate behavior file (FNIS_behavior.hkx)

Functionality separated into FNIS_behavior.hkx for maximum maintainability. Standard behavior files are minimally changed for a little hook in 0_master.hkx, and the list of all added animation files (defaultmale.hkx, defaultfemale.hkx).

Added functionality for acyclic animations (400 slots)

Added functionality for Animated Objects (100 cyclic, 100 acyclic)

Added 400 more cyclic slots (800 total)

Improvements: All animations stop the previous idle (no need to PlayIdle/cast only to stop the previous one), Head tracking disabled during animation, Blending between previous pose and current animation (0.6 sec)

FNIS Spells: added example animations for the new animation types
When installing FNIS V2.0 make sure to delete Data/Meshes/actors/character/behaviors/mt_behavior.hkx

This mod serves both gamers and modders.

Gamers can use it to make NPCs perform any standard or custom animation by simply copying the (.hkx) animation file under a pre-defined name into a special directory, and activate them by casting the FNIS spells.
(Note: although there can be different NPCs performing different animations at one time, this mod does not provide any synchronization of these animations, as needed for example in somne adult type animation mods).

Modders can use the new animation slots to implement their own (behavior independant) animation invocation and synchronization.

The animation slots are implemented by extending Beth's behavior files (which was only possible thanks to TheFigment aka TheHologram's amazing hkxcmd). Because of the anti-modding structure of these behaviors, my mod will always be incompatible to all other mods which modify behaviors as well (none known as of today). To make 2 behavior modifying mods compatible, they have to be integrated into one set of behaviors.

Currently this mod provides 1400 additional animation slots:

FNISc0001 to FNISc800: 800 cyclic

FNISa0001 to FNISa400: 400 acyclic (1-timer)

FNISo0001 to FNISo100: 100 cyclic with AnimObject

FNISb0001 to FNISb100: 100 acyclic with AnimObject
All AnimObject related slots ('o' and 'b' animations) assume that AnimObject are defined with CK. The AnimObject names have to match the animation: AnimObjectFNISo001 to AnimObjectFNISo100, and AnimObjectFNISb001 to AnimObjectFNISb100

FNIS animations can be used for all kind of simple animation tasks, (hopefully) including idle based combat overhauls like Oblivion's DR6 and CCAO. However due to the lack of necessary behavior information they cannot be used for regular combat animations.

Slots used by the following mods:

c001 to c045 . . FNIS Idle Spells (part of this mod)

c010 to c027 . . Dance Animation for Modder by Umpa, SergeyWR (as part of this mod)

c050 to c099 . . Adult Show XXX by RainOfChaos, theru, Messenjah, Persacom (using)

c200 to c230 . . Forbidden Romance theroll, Don Juan (using)
Usage for GAMERS

On start-up the player automatically receives 3 spells:

FNIS Spell Selector: This (self) spell allows you to select 1 of 72 Idle Animation which will be used for successive Idle Spells (NPC or player). By installation, most of these animations are pre-set with standard animations, but it also includes all 17 of Umpa's Dance Animation for Modder at slots C10 to C26.
See "Installation" on how to change these files with animations of your choice.

FNIS NPC Idles: This (target) spell makes the casted NPC perform the selected idle. On standing NPCs the idle will run until you interrupt by casting again. But (unfortunately), because the animation slots are fully integrated into the behavior files, the animation will be also interrupted by other standard animation event's of the NPC's animation schedule.

FNIS Player Idles: This (self) spell forces the player into 3rd person and makes her perform the selected idle. The will run until you interrupt, e.g. by jumping up (space bar).
Usage for MODDERS

Simply copy your animations into the "animation/FNIS" folder, using the predefined names (see above)
and call your idles with PlayIdle() by using the corresponding anim events (e.g. zFNISc051 for animation FNISc051).

PLEASE DO NOT USE RESERVED SLOTS (see above). I will gladly reserve the slots you need for your mod, and will add new slots to FNIS, if necessary.

Please keep in mind that you will interfere wih all other modders that use the same animation names. In the long run I have plans for a managing utility, which generates a wrapper layer around FNIS, based on the user's mod list.

Known Restrictions and Incompatibilities

This mod is incompatible with every other mod which modifies the same behavior files 0_master.hkx, defaultmale.hkx, and defaultfemale.hkx. In particular FNIS is incompatible with
- Animated Prostitution - Skyrim (AP)
- Joshs Skyrim Behavior File Patcher

The FNIS Idle Spell work in most situations. Some walking NPCs will just continue their way after a short interlude. So will most NPCs standing, leaning or sitting in dedicated places. I have implemented a 10-quest/quest idle management to make most casts successful. But there are still misses due to specific situations. To make these work it would be necessary to implement rather complicated packages (based on scenes). But I didn't think it's really worth this effort.

It's a little tricky to end the player's idles. Reason is that the CK doesn't provide an event for hitting a key (for interruption). The easiest way to end a player idle is to use space to jump up, then toggle to 1st to re-gain casting ability. Note: this spell DOES NOT change your standard idle(s). It only makes the the player character play the idle until you interrupt.

Required & Recommended Mods/Tools

None required

___________________________________________________________________________________
INSTALLATION

Uninstall any previous FNIS version. In particular, make sure that Data/Meshes/actors/character/behaviors/mt_behavior.hkx is removed

Install the files as usual, either using NMM, or with manual installation

There are 2 seperate uploads coming with the mod:

FNIS Behavior Files. Required. Replaces 3 original behavior files (0_master.hkx, defaultmale.hkx, defaultfemale.hkx) and adds an additional one (FNIS_behavior.hkx)
- Install files

FNIS Idle Spells. Optional (if you want to use described FNIS spells)
- Install files
- Activate FNISspell.esp
If you want to play your own animations, you can simply replace the files in meshes\actors\character\animations\FNIS by your own files (but unless you want to change the scripts, YOU HAVE TO USE EXACTLY THE SAME NAMES):

FNISc001.hkx to FNISc045.hkx (for cyclic animations)

FNISa001.hkx to FNISa009.hkx (for acyclic animations)

FNISo001.hkx to FNISo009.hkx (for cyclic animations using AnimObjects)

FNISb001.hkx to FNISb009.hkx (for acyclic animations using AnimObjects)
If you change AnimObject ('o' or 'b') animations, you should also change the corresponding AnimObjects in meshes\AnimObjects\FNIS

Uninstall

Uninstall with NMM, or manually delete
